Performance Rating
The FirePro W9000 X2 was an enthusiast-class professional graphics card by AMD, that was never released. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Tahiti graphics processor, in its Zaphod variant, the card supports DirectX 12. The Tahiti graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 352 mm² and 4,313 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon HD 7970, which uses the same GPU but has all 2048 shaders enabled, AMD has disabled some shading units on the FirePro W9000 X2 to reach the product's target shader count. FirePro W9000 X2 combines two graphics processors to increase performance. It features 1792 shading units, 112 texture mapping units, and 32 ROPs, per GPU. AMD has paired 6 GB GDDR5 memory with the FirePro W9000 X2, which are connected using a 384-bit memory interface per GPU (each GPU manages 3,072 MB). The GPU is operating at a frequency of 825 MHz, which can be boosted up to 950 MHz, memory is running at 1250 MHz (5 Gbps effective).
