Performance Rating
The Radeon HD 8970 OEM was a graphics card by AMD, launched on January 8th, 2013. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Tahiti graphics processor, in its Tahiti XT variant, the card supports DirectX 12. Even though it supports DirectX 12, the feature level is only 11_1, which can be problematic with newer DirectX 12 titles. The Tahiti graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 352 mm² and 4,313 million transistors. It features 2048 shading units, 128 texture mapping units, and 32 ROPs. AMD has paired 3,072 MB GDDR5 memory with the Radeon HD 8970 OEM, which are connected using a 384-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 925 MHz, memory is running at 1375 MHz (5.5 Gbps effective).
